Showcase Sunday
Showcase Sunday is the weekly meme hosted by Vicky @ Books Biscuits and Tea. If you’d like to join see HERE for more details.

The idea is that any books I got myself, was gifted, received for review all go in this post so you can see what it is that I got! Each book shown will also have a book synopsis and a clearer picture of it’s cover.

Hello again! This haul is about the books my partner picked up!

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J Maas – Release Date: September 1st 2015 – Andy loves this series, and has gotten hooked on it the way I had expected to. So he pre-ordered Queen of Shadows. But during the raffle giveaway, Andy also won a copy! Bless him, not moments before he was talking about how he never wins anything, but it would be just his luck to win something he already owned! Ha! So he decided to give me his copy and keep the copy he won. Bless! [He was also very happy to see a Throne of Glass bookmark in the swag packs!]

Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she’s at last returned to the empire—for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past . . .

She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die just to see her again. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen’s triumphant return.

Here is the trilogy that Andy somehow managed to walk away with! Although he was very excited to start reading it!

Angelfall by Susan EE  – Release Date: August 28th 2012

It’s been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back.

Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.

Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl.

Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels’ stronghold in San Francisco where she’ll risk everything to rescue her sister and he’ll put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for the chance to be made whole again.

World After by Susan EE   –  Release Date: November 19th 2013

In this sequel to the bestselling fantasy thriller, Angelfall, the survivors of the angel apocalypse begin to scrape back together what’s left of the modern world.

When a group of people capture Penryn’s sister Paige, thinking she’s a monster, the situation ends in a massacre. Paige disappears. Humans are terrified. Mom is heartbroken.

Penryn drives through the streets of San Francisco looking for Paige. Why are the streets so empty? Where is everybody? Her search leads her into the heart of the angels’ secret plans where she catches a glimpse of their motivations, and learns the horrifying extent to which the angels are willing to go.

Meanwhile, Raffe hunts for his wings. Without them, he can’t rejoin the angels, can’t take his rightful place as one of their leaders. When faced with recapturing his wings or helping Penryn survive, which will he choose?

End of Days by Susan EE   – Release Date: May 12th 2015

After a daring escape from the angels, Penryn and Raffe are on the run. They’re both desperate to find a doctor who can reverse the twisted changes inflicted by the angels on Raffe and Penryn’s sister. As they set off in search of answers, a startling revelation about Raffe’s past unleashes dark forces that threaten them all.

When the angels release an apocalyptic nightmare onto humans, both sides are set on a path toward war. As unlikely alliances form and strategies shift, who will emerge victorious? Forced to pick sides in the fight for control of the earthly realm, Raffe and Penryn must choose: Their own kind, or each other?

Then here are the two books that Andy chose from the original ‘pick two books’. Both of which I now want to read, they sound amazing!

Way Down Dark by JP Smythe  – Release Date: July 2nd 2015 – Andy picked this book up because the cover was amazing [and it is!] but didn’t expect to then choose it as one of his books! Again, he’s very excited to read this!

There’s one truth on Australia: You fight or you die. Usually both.

Seventeen-year-old Chan’s ancestors left a dying Earth hundreds of years ago, in search of a new home. They never found one.

The only life that Chan’s ever known is one of violence, of fighting. Of trying to survive.

But there might be a way to escape. In order to find it, Chan must head way down into the darkness – a place of buried secrets, long-forgotten lies, and the abandoned bodies of the dead.

Seventeen-year-old Chan, fiercely independent and self-sufficient, keeps her head down and lives quietly, careful not to draw attention to herself amidst the violence and disorder. Until the day she makes an extraordinary discovery – a way to return the Australia to Earth. But doing so would bring her to the attention of the fanatics and the murderers who control life aboard the ship, putting her and everyone she loves in terrible danger.

And a safe return to Earth is by no means certain.

The Catalyst by Helena Coggan  – Release Date: February 19th 2015 – Again, Andy was isntantly drawn to the cover of this one, and as it was the last copy of it on the table he wanted to read what it was about! Turns out then he liked the sound of it and decided to pick it as his book! He chose some great books!

Rose Elmsworth has a secret. For eighteen years, the world has been divided into the magically Gifted and the non-magical Ashkind, but Rose’s identity is far more dangerous. At fifteen, she has earned herself a place alongside her father in the Department, a brutal law-enforcement organisation run by the Gifted to control the Ashkind. But now an old enemy is threatening to start a catastrophic war, and Rose faces a challenging test of her loyalties. How much does she really know about her father’s past? How far is the Department willing to go to keep the peace? And, if the time comes, will Rose choose to protect her secret, or the people she loves?
